Mark Stenger of Rush City passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at his home at the age of 60.
Mark William Stenger was born on April 14, 1964 to George and Carole (Guegel) Stenger in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was the 3rd of 7 children.
While in high school, Mark met his wife, Mary, after he asked his sister Carrie if she knew “that Mary Pat girl.” Mark and Mary were married for 39 years and blessed with five children (Meg, Molly, Maddy, Michelle, and Matt) and 9 grandchildren (Cady, Timmy, Max, Jack, Joe, Clare, Annika, Dominic, and Ben).
His strong work ethic started with a paper route, mowing lawns, working on the farm, working at Super Value with his mom, and continued for the rest of his life.
He created many wonderful memories for the kids and grandkids: traveling across the country, walking down below the hill to taste the fresh spring water, going on many bike and motorcycle trips. While not a big man, Mark was extremely strong. A goal for many of the grandkids was to match their grandpa in strength.
He was the kind of person who would go above and beyond for others. He never turned away from helping someone in need. He had a wonderful sense of humor and often made everyone laugh.
Mark, patient and slow to anger, you too are priceless. We will always treasure these memories and the countless others that you gifted us. Thank you for being a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, and friend. Be not afraid. Until we meet again, we will keep calm and carry on. Vaya Con Dios. We love you.
Mark is survived by his wife Mary Stenger of Rush City; children Meghanne (Tim) Morris of Rush City, Molly Stenger (Peterson Nagbe) of Champlin, Maddy Stenger of Durham, North Carolina, Matt (Noelle) Stenger of Dayton; parents George and Carole Stenger of Harris; 9 grandchildren; siblings Scott Stenger of Rush City, Carrie (Chris) Swanson of Wyoming, Paul Stenger of Harris, Chris (Kazusa) Stenger of Everett, Washington; niece Heather (Dave) Powell; other relatives and friends.
