Mary Jane Dahl of Rush City passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, after a short battle with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at M Health Fairview, Wyoming at the age of 79.
Mary Jane was born on March 20, 1945 to J.D. and Susan (Saloka) Brennan in Rush City, Minnesota. She grew up in the Hinckley area and graduated from Hinckley High School in 1963.
During high school, she met the love of her life DuWayne D. Dahl. They were married on April 9, 1965, in Barstow, California where DuWayne was stationed in the Marine Corp. While in California they welcomed their first of three children, DuWayne. Shortly after, DuWayne was discharged from the Marine Corp, they relocated back to Minnesota where they welcomed their second born, Stephanie. Four years later they welcomed the baby of the family, Leandra.
Upon returning to Minnesota, they lived in various cities before making Rush City their home in 1971. Mary Jane loved being a stay-at-home mom but also enjoyed working various part-time jobs. Once the kids were in school, Mary Jane started her career in 1976 working at Dennis Kirk followed by RC Company and retired from Plastech in 2014.
Mary Jane’s Catholic upbringing and faith was a big portion of her life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. She was a member of the CCW, served terms on the parish council, was a Eucharistic minister, and loved being a part of the church choir and cantering. She was an active member of the community. She was involved in the Women’s Club, Red Hatters and volunteered for Hospice. She always loved sports everything from hometown teams to professional teams, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, she always had a game on TV.
Of all these things, she cherished her family the most. She loved supporting her family in whatever they chose to do. She always made sure to show up and cheer on her children and grandchildren in their extra curricular activities. Her favorite of all was spending time with her family. Whether it was sitting around at backyard BBQ's, celebrating birthdays and holidays, or sitting in her living room with her puppies having a one-on-one chit chat. We will all miss those chats.
