Mary Ann Petersen passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at Lyngblomstern Care Center in St. Paul at the age of 87.

MaryAnn Marla Mills Petersen was born November 24, 1936 in Pine City, Minnesota to Fred and Lila (Luoma) Miller. MaryAnn grew up on the family farm in Pine City, participated in 4H and graduated from Pine City High School. She married Lawrence George Mills in March 2, 1957; there were five children born to this union. She worked as a secretary and then for many years at Central Middle School in White Bear Lake. Several years after the death of her first husband, she married Dale Petersen on April 3, 1971.

MaryAnn enjoyed time with family and friends. She had a plaque in her kitchen identifying family, friends and fellowship and these were her priorities. Her house was always the center of our family and was the gathering place. She also enjoyed bingo and an occasional trip to the casino. 

She attended Eaglebrook Church in White Bear Lake. She received care at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St Paul the last year. We are very grateful to Lyngblomsten for their caring and compassionate staff.

MaryAnn is survived by her brother Marlen (Ann) Miller; children Marla Mills, Mark (Mary Jo) Mills, Marilee Mills; step-children Pauline (Tim) Fahey and Peter Rite. She was surrounded by many grandchildren: Melissa, Makayla, Ryan, Adam, Sean, Megan, Kathy, Biz, Ashley, Sondra and Shaun; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lila Miller; husbands Lawrence Mills and Dale Petersen; children Michael Mills and Melanie Piha; grandson Joshua Piha. 

Pastor Bruce Thompson will officiate funeral services for MaryAnn: 11 AM; Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the service all at the Swanson Funeral Chapel. The interment will take place at the Hustletown Union Cemetery in Pine City.
