Matthew Albert Carlson

Matthew A. Carlson, age 61, of Harris, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Matt was born May 20, 1963 in Rush City, the third child (and the baby) to Dale and Joyce (Olson) Carlson. Matt was raised in North Branch and attended North Branch Schools, graduating in 1981. After high school Matt attended Anoka Technical Vocational School for Tool and Die making, graduating in 1983.

Matt went to work for Deluxe Tool in Wyoming and eventually went to work for Plastic Products Co., where he worked for 25 years. Matt held numerous positions until health issues made working difficult in 2016.

Matt married the love of his life on April 25, 1987, Mary Peters. Matt and Mary purchased their home in Harris in March of 1991. Matt enjoyed being outdoors. Whether it was hunting, fishing or cutting wood. Matt was very family oriented and loved spending time with all his families.

Matt is survived by his wife Mary Carlson; sister Kim (Dana) Johnson of North Branch; sisters and brothers-in-law Penny Pliscott of North Branch, Warren (Donna) Peters of Rush City, Lori Peters of Pine City, Kristina (Gary) Peters of Grasston; aunts and uncles; Godson Caleb Sanders; Goddaughter Megan Anderson; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Joyce Carlson; brother Mitchell Carlson; nephew Andrew Carlson; in-laws Duane and Kay Peters; sister-in-law Stephanie Peters; and extended family.

Special thanks to Lori, Caleb, Skylar and Ashley for their loving care of Matt over the last nine years. Also St. Croix Hospice for their support and care since January 2025.

Reverend John Omans will officiate funeral services for Matt: 3:00 PM; Friday, April 18, 2025 with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service, all at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Interment will take place at a later date.
