Mildred “Millie” Robinson of Rush City passed away at Ecumen of North Branch on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the age of 84.
Mildred Christina Nelson was born November 8, 1933 to Robert and Lillie (Carlson) Nelson in Rush City, Minnesota.
Millie graduated from Rush City High School in 1950 and then went to Minneapolis where she worked as a legal secretary for many years. She then moved with her two young sons to northern California where she lived and worked for more than 20 years. Upon her marriage to Ronald, she returned to Minnesota where she continued her secretary/assistant career, retiring from Hazelden Foundation in Center City after many years of service. Over the years, she worked in education, law, business, research and development.
Millie enjoyed the outdoors, vegetable gardening, bird watching and fishing. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading and playing card games. Travels took her to China, Hong Kong, Japan, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and the U.S.
Millie is survived by her sons Michael (Michelle) Hammel and Scott (Lynda) Hammel of northern California; grandchildren Scotty Hammel, Rachel Hammel, Rebecca Hammel, Kayse (Gary) Frontiera, Kimberlee (Ray) Sierra, Kori Lee (Leif) Carlson and Mikey Hammel all of California; great-grandchildren Connor, Cole, Caitlyn, Landon, Leila, Charlotte, Chloe, Freya; step-sons Randy (Nancy) Robinson of White Bear Lake, Mike (Elaine) Robinson of Rush City, Jerry Robinson of Hudson, WI.; step-daughter Barbara Robinson of Champlain; step-grandchildren Rachel (Joe) Gandsey of Rogers, Scott (Lindsey) Robinson of New Brighton, Sam (Brooke) Robinson of Stacy, Jeris (Jackie) Robinson of Otsego, Lee Robinson of Odessa, TX., Joe Robinson of Roseville, Jack Heinrich of Maple Grove, Brian Heinrich of New Hope; step-great-grandchildren Tyler, Anthony, Makenna, Jerid, Brodey, Jaden, Everly, Sonny, Roran, Laney, Capri, Jasper; niece Patty Best of New Prague, nephews Bob Franke of Eagan and Dennis Meyers of Richland, WA; and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lillie Nelson; husband Ron Robinson; sisters Ruth, Esther, twin sister Margaret and infant sister Ruby.
Pastor Glen Bickford will officiate at funeral services for Millie: 11 AM; Sunday (5/20) with a time of visitation and reviewal 1 hour prior to the service all at the Olson Funeral Chapel, Rush City. The interment will take place in First Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City.
