Nelda Newsom of Pine City passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 70.

Nelda JoAnn Bell was born on July 23, 1954 to Harry and Lila (Smith) Bell in Rush City, Minnesota.

Nelda is survived by her children Sharon Newsom of Isanti, Shirley Somora of Pine City, John Newsom, Jr. (Amanda McNeal) of Pine City; grandchildren Tim (Chianan) Yaritz, Marissa Yaritz (Tristan Moran), Savannah Yaritz, Cody and Autumn Somora, Aiden Breault, Noah, Emma, Conner, David and Chase Newsom; great-grandchildren Mina Moran, Carter Yaritz; siblings Marlene Reiser of Rush City, Deloris (Del) Mattson of Florida, Merry Bell of Texas, Esther Cook of Oregon, Dale Bell of Brook Park, Roy Bell of St. Paul, Ron Bell of Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Lila Bell; husband John Newsom, Sr.; children David and Christine Thompson; son-in-law Chris Yaritz.

Pastor Bruce Thompson will officiate at funeral services for Nelda: 11 AM; Friday, November 1, 2024 with a time of visitation and reviewal planned from 5-8 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2024 and also one hour prior to the service all at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. The interment will take place in Hustletown Union Cemetery.
