Omar Charles Magaard

Omar Magaard passed peacefully away Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 91.

Omar Charles Magaard was born on January 6, 1933 to Hans and Marie (Dreixler) Magaard in Coon Rapids, Iowa. 

Omar retired from being a driver's examiner for Pine City and the surrounding areas.

Omar married Sherry Johnson on May 22, 1987 and they had 37 years together. He was active in the Pine City Lions and a member of the Novak-Milliren VFW Post #4258 of Pine City and Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51 of Pine City.

Omar is survived by his wife Sherry Magaard of Pine City; children Bonnie (Kevin) Abbott of Pine City, Danea (Dr. Joseph) Nilsson of Pine City, and Gary (Vickie) Magaard of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Marie Magaard; brothers Robert Magaard and Bill Magaard; and grandson Gunnar.

Omar's Celebration of Life: 3:00 PM; Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Zion Lutheran Church of Pine City, Minnesota.  A time for family and friends to gather is planned for two hours prior to the service at the church..
