Pam Malchow of Rush City passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at her home at the age of 72.
Pamela Rae Falk was born April 17, 1951 to Lawrence and Grace (Jordahl) Falk at the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Hennepin County. In 1961, when Pam was in the sixth grade the family moved from Richfield to Colombia Heights. During her school years she enjoyed both band and choir. She and Lou (Louis) met in school but didn’t start dating until after high school. After graduation Pam worked with her dad’s sister Mary at Northrup King. It was Mary that set Pam and Lou up for a date. On July 31, 1971 Pam and Lou were married. In 1972, they moved to Shorewood Park in Rush City not far from Pam’s Malchow grandparents. She was commuting from Rush City to work at Grayco and later at GAF Roofing for some ten years. She was employed with Provide Care when Lou passed away.
Family was always important as were many family vacations, one of the more memorable trips was to California and Las Vegas where we met good friends Phil and Rosemary and their kids. Opening fishing with her sisters and brothers-in-law was a family tradition. One year she caught a 15-pound Muskie in the channel of Shorewood Park. As a family we fished on Rush Lake, she always let us play in the minnow buckets-chasing the minnows around to keep us busy, we think we were there for the extra limit.
In 2019, she moved from her Shorewood home to a townhouse in Rush City. She enjoyed many years as a member of the Woman’s Club and loved getting together with the ladies of Shorewood. She loved going thrifting and watching Viking games with her good friend Connie. Pam liked to make floral arrangements and decorated the house with flowers. She enjoyed music and always talked about the Smokey Robinson concert she attended at the Casino.
Pam was a very enthusiastic person and took pride in everyone’s accomplishments. She was always there to lend a helping hand. Both she and her brother had a wonderful sense of humor and truly enjoyed each other’s company. Grandchildren were especially loved, and summers were spent at the Rush City pool with Krista and Jessie. She was extremely proud of Colton working at the fire department. In recent years the two great grandchildren were the twinkle in her eye.
Pam is survived by her sons Nick Malchow (Lisa Morris) of Rush City, Nate (Sarah) Malchow of North Branch; grandchildren Colton Malchow, Krista (Matt) Malchow, Jessica (Jason) Otterholt; great-grandchildren Jed Malchow, Louis Otterholt; siblings Debbie Killian of Blaine, Faye (Marty) Davis of Champlain, Tim (Jodi) Falk of Cannon Falls; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Grace Falk; husband Louis Malchow.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM; Friday (12/15) at the Rush City Community Center, 740 West 14th Street, Rush City, MN 55069.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rush City Women's Club, 3351 Shorewood Drive, Rush City, MN 55069.
