Richard and Marie Hanson died on Monday, February 10, 2025 at their home in Beroun, at the ages of 27 and 26 respectively.
Richard Tyler Hanson was born on November 2, 1997 to Dale and April (Brown) Hanson in Cambridge, Minnesota. He attended school in Braham and graduated in 2016. He was involved in 4H for 15 years with Kanabec County showing goats, rabbits, dogs, and photography. He won many trips to the Minnesota State fair with 4H and won Grand Champion with his goat. He participated in football, basketball and baseball from a young age. His 6th grade basketball team won the state championship in 2010 in the Minnesota Sports Federation. He won many basketball shooting awards too! He participated in 4H, football, basketball, and baseball in high school. He worked as a farm laborer in high school, and at the Rock Creek Truck Stop during and after high school. He started working for Michel’s Pipeline, Inc installing gas piping as a laborer. He attended NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND and earned his plumbing certificate. He went back to work for Michel's after completing his schooling and was currently working as a laborer/pipe fuser. Richard was an avid deer hunter, with both bow and rifle. He loved to ride his dirt bike and entered a few times in the Chisago County fair dirt bike races. He loved to snowmobile and loved four-wheeling too!
Marie Ellen (Larson) Hanson was born in Mora, Minnesota on June 4, 1998 to Vicki and Randy Larson of Pine City. Marie attended school in Pine City and graduated top of her class from Pine City High school in 2016. Marie was involved in gymnastics, track, golf, volleyball, band, All Conference Band, National Honor Society, and German in high school. She was named a Great River Conference golfer in 2014. She went to Germany with her German class in 2014. Marie was awarded the Miss Pine City Ambassador Program's Academic Achievement Award and Scholarship in 2015. She was awarded the MSHSL AAA award for Academics, Arts and Athletics and the MSHSS Volleyball Coaches Association Academic All State Award for volleyball her senior year. Marie worked at WCMP radio station and Lakeside Nursing home while in high school, and the City of Pine City in the summers mowing lawns at the cemeteries. She attended college at NDSU in Fargo and worked at the bookstore and financial aid office until the Covid shutdown. She then transferred to the SNHU online program and completed her accounting degree. She was enrolled and working on her master's degree through SNHU. She worked in the accounting department for Dennis Kirk in Rush City. Marie loved to be outdoors, read, and especially loved to crochet. She had her own blog, and sold her creations and patterns through Etsy.
Richard and Marie were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Pine City on October 8, 2022 on the anniversary of their first date in 2014. They lived in the house in Beroun that Richard bought in 2020. They were parents to their two dogs Easton and Weston, and three cats: Louis, Katrina, and Octavia. Marie and Richard both grew up fishing from an early age with their family. They loved fishing in winter and summer, golfing, and bowling together. Marie and Richard honeymooned in Ireland in March of 2024 and fell in love with the country. Marie got to kiss the Blarney stone and Richard even learned to drive on the left side of the road. They especially enjoyed spending time with their family, friends, and pets.
Richard is survived by his mother April Hanson (Mike Wallace) of Braham; father Dale Hanson (Laura Barrett) of Pine City; sister Sara Sandberg of Braham; brothers Brandon (Brenna) Sandberg of Vista, CA, Zach Chaffee of Grantsburg, WI; nieces and nephews Levi Dressel, Ivan Chaffee, Violet Chaffee, Wilhelmina Kapaun, Melvin Chaffee; grandmother Barbara Hanson of Brook Park; aunts and uncles Cindy Anderson, Jennette Hanson, Dwane (Lisa) Hanson, Rodney Hanson, William Brown, Harry Anderson, Jason Anderson (Shanna Lindberg); other relatives and friends.
Marie is survived by her parents Randy and Vicki Larson; brother Lenny Larson (Kori Laszcwski); grandfather Andrew Shorma all of Pine City; uncle William Larson of St. Paul; aunts Bonnie (Richard) Ordner of Rush City, Nancy Shorma of Andover; cousins Tony (Karen) Ordner and Shaylee of Andover, Chris (Kim) Ordner and Kate, Caleb and Cameron of Brooklyn Park, Heidi (Brad) Schweers and Leo of Athens, GA; many great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandmother Sherry Bockoven; grandfathers William Brown, Richard Hanson; uncles Douglas Hanson, Kenneth Brown; and aunt Kathy Brown.
Marie was preceded in death by her grandparents Wilbur and Hattie Larson; grandmother Sharon Shorma; uncles Leonard Larson and Jon Shorma.
Father Thomas Galarneault will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Richard and Marie: 11 AM; Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City with a luncheon to follow. A time of visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM; Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at a later date.
