Robin Lynn Root

Robin Root of Pine City passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at the age of 59. She lost her six-year battle with Alzheimer's disease and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Robin Lynn Schmidt was born on November 20, 1960 to Albert and Jewell (Mammenga) Schmidt in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Growing up in St. Paul with her four siblings, Robin shared many memories of having fun and playing pranks on family and friends.  She graduated from the St. Paul Tartan High School. After graduation, she pursued a career in financing, first working at a local bank.

In March of 1982, she gave birth to her only son, Troy. From then on it was the two of them.  Together they moved to several states, she held several jobs using her many skills.  She and Troy eventually found a home in Pine City.  It was here she found the greatest friend and the love of her life, Dennis Root.  After many years together they finally tied the knot on August 27, 2010.  She loved spoiling and spending as much time as she could with all of her grandchildren. Robin loved to socialize and enjoyed dining out with friends, family and especially her loving husband Dennis.

Robin is survived by her husband Dennis Root; children Troy (Katie) Schmidt, Sara (Allen) Long, Dennis (Michelle) Root, Robert (Martine) Root; grandchildren: Claire, Quinn, Rosalyn, Joseph, Megan, Samantha, Matthew and Kevin; mother Jewell Schmidt; sister Penny (Keith) Lindahl; brothers Al Schmidt Jr. and Chuck (Wendy) Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her father Albert Schmidt Sr.; sister Cynthia Schmidt.

A family graveside service for Robin will be held at 1 PM; Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Hilltop Cemetery in Pine City.

A Celebration of Robin's Life will be held at a later date when we can safely gather to support her family.
