Russell “Rusty” Fletcher of Harris passed away at Cambridge Medical Center on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the age of 84. Russell Keith Fletcher was born May 8, 1933 on his family's dairy farm in Vergas, Minnesota to LeRoy and Eunice (Evey) Fletcher. Growing up, Rusty would help with assorted farm tasks including delivering milk to neighbors with the help of his billy goat and Chesapeake. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1950 and later married Karen Swanson in 1958. Together they raised their three sons in Harris, MN. In 1961, Rusty started his successful business, Fletcher Plumbing & Heating, serving thousands of clients throughout the years. Rusty always had a story to share, a joke to tell, or a tune to sing. You would often find him in his wood shop building beautiful pieces of furniture, spending time in his garden, fishing, or cheering on the Minnesota Twins. In the words of the wise ol' man from Harris, "Above all, have fun." Rusty is survived by his wife Karen Fletcher of Harris; sons Butch Fletcher of Harris, Kurt Fletcher of Hinckley and Tad (Tammy) Fletcher of Braham; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Lois (Vern) Arneson of Sabin; brother Kermit Fletcher of Evansville; sisters-in-law Kathy Fletcher of Vergas and Kathy (Jim) Olson of Harris. He is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Eunice Fletcher; brother Clinton Fletcher and sister-in-law Darlene. Pastor Amanda Applehans will officiate at funeral services for Rusty: 11:30 AM; Monday (10/9/17) at Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place at Fish Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Stark.
