Ruth Merie Stewart

Ruth Stewart of Pine City, formerly of Bowlus, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Northern Pines Assisted Living at the age of 80.

Ruth Merie Osgood was born March 26, 1944 to Robert & Louise (Blanchard) Osgood in Duluth, Minnesota. After time in Oregon and California she eventually returned to Minnesota and lived in Bowlus near Little Falls for many years.

In 1982, Ruth settled in Pine City and was employed at various jobs. The most enjoyable was her time working as a cook at Pine Manor treatment center and her custodial position at the Pine City Schools.

Ruth's hobbies included playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and finding homes for stray cats as she loved animals. She was a very kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother and family meant the world to her.

Ruth is survived by her sons Troy (Amy) Stewart of Pine City, Tom Blake of Duluth; stepson Del (Sandy) Stewart of Prior Lake; grandchildren Nicholas and Emily Stewart, Derek (Jillian), Ryan and Adam Blake; several great-grandchildren; brother Don Osgood of Pine City; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Louise Osgood; son Tim Blake; life partner Jim Godfrey; stepson Ray Stewart; stepdaughter Sharon Bitzer; brothers Robert E. Osgood, Richard L. Osgood, Terry G. Osgood.

There will be a time for friends and family to gather and remember Ruth: 5:00-8:00 PM; Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. The interment will take place later at Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City.
