Timothy Allen Fairclough, 67, passed peacefully with family by his side on April 3, 2025. His determination, spirit of volunteerism and love of the outdoors will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Tim was the youngest child of Thomas and Alice (Erickson) Fairclough. He married Kari (Hansen) on September 6, 1978, in Rochester, MN, which is where they lived and raised their family. In 2016 their dream of full-time lake living became a reality as they moved to East Rush Lake.

Tim was a 1975 graduate of John Marshall High School and then served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps. He later continued his education and graduated from Winona State University. Tim was employed at IBM from 1983 until 2010 and then worked another twelve years at Mayo Clinic, retiring in December of 2022.

Tim enjoyed time in nature, whether fishing, photography, coaching soccer or sitting on the deck watching the lake. He was a long-time soccer coach for his children and for his alma mater, coaching a state championship traveling team and winning several high school league coaching awards. He was also an avid cook, always taking charge of holiday meals and family favorites. He has passed many of those skills to Josie, his oldest granddaughter, who will proudly carry on that tradition. Tim was happiest with his family, friends, and good music, and never missed an opportunity to get a line in the water. He took many fishing trips with a core group of ‘damn good friends’ and took immense pride in watching his grandchildren learn to love the lake as well. Nathan loved his Ranger rides with Grandpa and Emily was all about fishing…as long as Grandpa handled the bait and the fish! Tim received a double lung transplant in 2016 and was determined to make the most of the additional life that was gifted to him- and he succeeded. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kari, children Heather (Brent) Weber and Ted (Sara) Fairclough, grandchildren Josephine Weber, Emily Christenson and Nathan Fairclough, brothers Thomas (Cathy) and Richard (Pam) Fairclough, parent-in-laws Karen and Dennis Noltee, brother-in-law Jack Stocky and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Stocky.

The family would especially like to thank Tim’s hero (organ donor) and the Mayo Clinic heart/lung transplant team for almost 9 additional years of time for family, friends and new memories. They would also like to thank the extraordinary care team at St. Croix Hospice for assisting Tim and his family these final weeks.

A celebration of life will be held at 4pm on April 7, 2025, at Macken Funeral Home, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday April 6th at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. A private interment with military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Duluth later this summer.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to:  Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City, Olson Chapel
