Virginia Elizabeth (Dwyer) Schuler, age 82, of Pine City passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Ecumen in North Branch.
“Ginny” was born on November 28, 1940 to John and Marion (Longmuir) Dwyer in Bismarck, North Dakota.
She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1958 where she enjoyed playing volleyball. She and Earl developed a close relationship through their families and their membership in the Salvation Army, where they both developed their strong Christian faith.
Ginny’s life revolved around her family and her church. In the 1970’s and 80’s she could be found cheering on her husband’s wrestling teams or watching her children play tennis, basketball, softball, football, and wrestling. The 2000’s found her cheering on her grandchildren in basketball, softball, tennis, horse shows, musicals, and plays, while still being very active at the First Presbyterian Church. Ginny was a gardener and was known for her amazing baking skills that included Christmas cookies, pies, birthday cakes, and bars for church events. A little known fact about Ginny was that she was an artist and painted many pictures that are displayed in the homes of many family members.
Along with taking care of her family, Ginny also worked at Linda’s Jewelry store and Koppen’s drug store. She played tennis and loved the sun and the outdoors.
Ginny and Earl did some traveling with close friends Wilson (deceased) and Karen Barfknecht to Hawaii, Door County, Chicago, and Branson. They also traveled with close friends Sherry and Omar Magaard to Mexico. Included in their travels were trips to North Dakota to visit family, as well as many family camping trips.
Holidays and birthdays were extra special to Ginny due to traditions that included large home cooked meals at the Schuler house and Christmas shopping with the grandchildren. The Barfknechts and the Schulers spent New Years Eve together for 30 plus years.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 62 years, Earl Schuler, of Pine City; daughters Laura (Brent) Weiss, Brenda (Tom) Kloeckl, all of Pine City; son Todd Schuler (Rashelle) of Wisconsin; grandchildren Kayla (Aaron) Good, Hannah Kloeckl, and McKenzie (Cory) Schmidt; great-grandchildren Barrett, Adalyn, and Milena Good; brother Tom (Cindy) Dwyer of North Dakota; sister Lois Diehl of MI; sister-in-law Kathleen Dwyer of North Dakota; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Marion Dwyer; siblings Jack (Marlene) Dwyer, David Dwyer, and Wanda Dwyer; father-in-law, Edward Schuler and mother-in-law Violet (Reiser) Schuler; brothers-in-law Ron Schuler and Gene Schuler.
