Wilmer Albin Lind was born August 3, 1923 in Rush City, Minnesota to Albin and Ida Lind and was gently placed into God’s hands Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Lakeside Health and Rehab Center in Pine City at the age of 93.Wilmar’s career included hauling milk, hauling powder for Federal Cartridge, a Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant. He owned and operated several Taverns in Rush City and Rock Creek, managed the Rush City Eagles Club, was an attendant at the Harris Rest Area on interstate 35 and then he was a janitor at the Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post #6692 in Rush City up until the age of 87. Wilmer loved life, his family and many friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, telling stories, gardening and his favorite meal of lutefisk. Wilmer is survived by his children: Frank “Bunny” (Arlene) Lind of White Bear Lake, Brad (Mona) Lind, John (Kolette) Lind all of Pine City, Fran Perrault of Rush City, Steve Thorsen of North Branch, Tom (Mary) Thorsen of Forest Lake, Susan Thorsen of Crystal; his many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Irene Lind; parents Albin Lind and Ida Carlson; step-father Frank Carlson; sisters Verna Johnson and Della Behrendt. Reverend Laurie O’Shea will officiate memorial services for Wilmer: 1 PM; Friday (4/14) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City with a gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior to the service. The interment will take place at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City. A funeral luncheon will be provided by the WELCA ladies at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City.
